Basic Directions
From UT Hwy 44, turn south on the scenic Spirit Lake Scenic Backway (USFS road #001). This turnoff is located in the wide open sagebrush flats of Dowd Mountain, about 10 miles south of Manila. At the end of the short stretch of pavement, turn left following signs to Spirit lake and then almost immediately turn right following signs to Brownie Lake Campground. Proceed past the campground to the trailhead. the well-marked trail climbs gradually, gaining 1000 feet of elevation in three miles. With a good topo map, one can locate several good fishing lakes in the vicinity of Teepee lakes.
