Spirit Lake backway is a 17-mile spur off the Sheep Creek Geological Loop, winding through forests and meadows to Spirit Lake. the road gradually climbs through pine and aspen forests to many flower filled meadows. Along the way, one will pass side roads to many scenic mountain lakes and trails. The road ends at 10,028 feet, along the shores of lovely Spirit Lake, lying close against the spine of the High Uintas. This site is one of the best places to spot moose in Flaming Gorge Country! Returning from Spirit Lake requires backtracking to Sheep Creek Loop.
