Fantasy Canyon

Fantasy Canyon is one of the most fragile and unique geological places in the world. Officially documented by famed paleontologist Earl Douglas in the early 1900's, this site was also called "The Devil's Playground" and "Hades Pit." This area of unique erosional features is located about 27 miles south of Vernal. This area may be hard to get to, but one is rewarded by a short easy walk of less than 1 mile through a variety of fantastic formations.

Directions

From Vernal, travel east on US Hwy 40 to 1500 East. Turn right on Hwy 45, the new Bonanza Highway. Travel 26 miles to a corral at Red Wash and turn right on the Glen Bench Road (#3250). Travel 12.6 miles to an intersection and turn left. Fantasy Canyon is 4.4 miles down this track.
